There are people who believe that if you missed an opportunity it was never meant to be yours. There are many beliefs around missed opportunities. It seems justifiable when you supposed to get something life purpose related and you miss it to say, it was not God's plan for me to get it. However, it is unjustifiable when one was supposed to purchase something from a shop and miss the opportunity. It is unforgivable...especially something of lower price tag as compared to buying a car or house. In general people seems to categorise missed opportunities. I honestly think there is a bit of discrepancies the way we categorise missed opportunities.
I recently missed an opportunity to buy a suit at cheaper price of R800 for a wedding. I had to have the same suit made for me for R3000.00. Now this is a missed opportunity…I retorted. It is the same as if I missed an opportunity to buy a car that was on sale especially if it was planned. It is the same missed opportunity for someone who let their potential partner (wife, husband, girlfriend boyfriend) go. It is also the same as letting a job opportunity go. I must say that missing an opportunity to catch the sale at your favourite shop does feel like a loss while missing the same for a car or huge commitment does feel like a saving grace from a higher being. Whether in actual fact is the truth or not remains…!
While I studied theology I learned that as a fact some people die early before their time. Some believe that you never miss your time for anything especially death. They believe that you get things according to time. While I agree to a certain extend, to a greater degree I believe that you make things happen, you cannot sit on your laurels and expect opportunities to present themselves without an effort. Hence people that hustle hard get the results. I also share the sentiment that we cannot live our lives recklessly and not expect the worse. As we normally say the harder you work the luckier you become, it is not a myth but a fact. The same for studying for exams…if you put in time…something will give.
Unfortunately I believe that missed opportunity will never be retrieved. One has got to grab the opportunity while they can...otherwise you will learn the hard-way - rue the missed opportunities.
